Peter Kiama
Executive Director
Peter is an accomplished governance, human rights and organizational development specialist with over 25 years of experience in spearheading quality programming, strategic planning, institutional strengthening and renewal, and good corporate governance. He joined Haki Yetu in January 2024 from IMLU (Independent Medico-Legal Unit), where he was the Executive Director for 13 years.

Peter Kazungu
Deputy Executive Director and Head of Programs
Peter is a seasoned program management specialist with a strong focus on human rights advocacy. With over 15 years of experience, Peter has honed his skills in designing and implementing impactful human rights and governance strategies. He is passionate about inclusive development, ensuring gender and minority considerations are central to his initiatives. Peter has been with Haki Yetu since January 2019.

Jackson Munyao
Head of Finance and Administration
Jackson has been with Haki Yetu Organization since 2016. He leads the Finance and Administration department, ensuring robust financial management, compliance with statutory and donor requirements, and efficient administrative operations. Jackson has been pivotal in streamlining processes and strengthening Haki Yetu’s operational efficiency to advance its mission of promoting human rights and social justice.

Triza Gacheru
Team Leader – Access to Justice
Triza as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya has a strong commitment to ensuring access to justice for vulnerable communities. Her focus is on legal advocacy, strategic litigation, and policy reform aimed at dismantling barriers to justice. Since 2012 upon joining Haki Yetu, Triza has worked on a variety of cases addressing systemic inequality, discrimination, and violations of fundamental freedoms especially on women and children.

Julius Wanyama
Program Officer – Access to Justice
Julius is a seasoned human rights defender, peace and conflict practitioner, and expert in alternative dispute resolution with over 13 years of experience. Since joining Haki Yetu in 2012, he has worked to strengthen access to justice for vulnerable populations through legal aid, human rights advocacy, and peaceful conflict resolution, playing a vital role in promoting justice and social cohesion.

Munira Chazike
Program Officer – Access to Justice (Kwale Office)
Munira is a dedicated human rights defender with over 11 years of experience in social work and community development. Since joining Haki Yetu in 2014, she has focused on mental health support, family services, and child safeguarding, driven by empathy and a strong commitment to empowering communities. With her deep dedication to social justice, she continues to advocate for vulnerable groups and strives to create lasting, positive change.

John Paul Obonyo
Team Leader – Land and Urban Development
John Paul is a committed human rights defender with a strong focus on grassroots advocacy and community empowerment. Specializing in land and housing rights, he has 13 years of experience since joining Haki Yetu in 2008, playing a key role in addressing injustices and driving policy reforms. His dedication has strengthened community movements and contributed to lasting change in the region.

Munira Ali
Program Officer – Land & Urban Development
Munira is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with seven years of dedicated practice in human rights law, specializing in land justice, urban development, policy advocacy, and strategic litigation. She is committed to promoting fair land policies and inclusive urban development, ensuring communities have a voice in decision-making processes. Driven by a strong belief in justice, and equity for all, she continues to champion the rights of marginalized populations.

Vincent Nkrumah
Program Officer – Governance (Tana River Office)
With 27 years of experience, Vincent is a proactive community development professional who joined Haki Yetu in 2023. He is known for his ability to analyze key factors that drive community transformation, bringing innovative strategies and valuable resources to his work. Deeply committed to understanding and addressing community needs, he consistently fosters meaningful and sustainable change that empowers those he serves.

Warda Zighe
Program Officer – Governance (Kilifi Office)
Warda is a committed governance and human rights practitioner with over 8 years of experience in community development and fostering meaningful civic engagement. She joined Haki Yetu in 2017, focusing on empowering youth across Mombasa, Kwale, and Kilifi Counties. She is dedicated to promoting social justice and ensuring communities are actively involved in decision-making processes.

Susan Manga
Finance and Admin Assistant
Susan is a Finance Assistant with over seven years of experience in financial record-keeping and operations. Since joining Haki Yetu in 2019, she has played a key role in ensuring smooth financial processes, reconciliation, and supporting the Finance Department. Her attention to detail, commitment to accuracy, and dedication to organizational goals contribute to the effective management of Haki Yetu’s financial systems.

Clement Kaunda
Finance and IT Assistant
Clement is a finance and project accounting professional with five years of experience enhancing financial transparency. Since joining Haki Yetu in 2019, he has played a key role in finance management, project accounting, and IT solutions. He applies analytical skills and technology-driven approaches to improve efficiency. His work supports Haki Yetu’s mission to promote justice and human rights.

James Nduto
Driver and Office Assistant
James ensures smooth organizational operations by providing reliable transportation and office support. He is responsible for vehicle maintenance, delivering documents and goods, and assisting with logistics for events and field activities. James’ focus on safety, efficiency, and teamwork plays a vital role in ensuring seamless operations, enabling Haki Yetu to fulfill its mission of promoting human rights and social justice.

Dorcas Muhia
Intern Team Democratic Governance
Dorcas has served as an intern at Haki Yetu since February 2025. She supports civic education, community mobilization, and advocacy efforts to promote transparency and accountability in Kilifi County. Her work focuses on engaging marginalized groups, organizing public forums, and building citizen capacity—driven by a strong passion for social justice, inclusion, and community empowerment.

Sharon Micheni
Intern for Monitoring and Evaluation
Sharon started at Haki Yetu in 2025 as an intern with the Monitoring and Evaluation team. She possesses expertise in Business Administration and Project Management, alongside strong skills in Mental Health and Counseling, Community Engagement, Coaching, and Mentorship. She is known for being goal-oriented and cultivating exceptional communication with both communities and colleagues.

Shadrack Musyemi
Intern for Media and Communication
Shadrack is the Communication Intern at Haki Yetu, bringing with him three years of hands-on experience in the field of communication. His expertise spans social media management, content creation, and photography. Passionate about meaningful engagement and powerful visuals, Shadrack is committed to using communication as a tool for advocacy and social change.
